Pharmacy
At Mimbres Memorial Hospital, the pharmacy plays an important part in providing care for patients. We aim to provide the best possible delivery of pharmaceutical care while overseeing all medication use and management.
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians provide clinical services including:

- Answering drug information questions
- Automatically changing some IV medications to oral, reducing the risks of IV therapy and saving patients money
- Continuously monitoring patient medication profiles (prescribed medication list)
- Mixing antibiotics and other medications necessary for the IV route
- Monitoring patient liver/kidney function
- Preparing intravenous (IV) solutions
- Recommending adjustments of medication doses to physicians
- Responding to physician requests to monitor certain medications, especially antibiotics
- Reviewing pre-surgery antibiotic therapy
- Screening for potential drug-drug, drug-food and drug/disease-state interactions and allergies
- Serving on medication management teams to improve medication processes and other quality initiatives
