Emergency Care at Mimbres Valley Medical Center

When life takes an unexpected turn, having local access to emergency care can bring a sense of reassurance. Our Emergency Department is prepared to care for people experiencing a range of emergency conditions, offering thoughtful, skilled support to individuals and families throughout Luna County and the southwest region of New Mexico during challenging moments.

We provide 24/7 emergency care. Orthopedic, general surgery, and podiatric surgical support is also available through on-call providers who serve patients in Luna County and the southwest region of New Mexico. We have enhanced clinical resources for our physicians in service to our community including TelePsych and TeleNeuro services.

Mimbres Valley Medical Center is partnered with Native Air helicopter medical transport and its skilled team of flight paramedics and flight nurses, as well as ground transport with Elite Medical Transport services. Their presence supports timely transfers for patients whose condition may require a higher level of specialty care at a larger regional medical center.

Our Emergency Department is staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians, trained in the evaluation and treatment of emergency conditions. Working together with our nursing staff, surgical teams, air-medical partners, and telemedicine specialists, the department focuses on offering a steady, informed, and supportive experience for patients and their loved ones throughout their visit.

When to Go to the ER: Know the Signs

Situations involving sudden, severe, or concerning changes—such as head injuries, high fevers, chest pain, difficulty breathing, or signs of stroke—often need prompt medical attention.
